SUGARDADDY (A sestina)

TURN PAGE...

He glanced at the mirror,

then the clock,

then the limes

lying in a bowl next to him, before swilling the liquid

in his glass.

He was made of gold.

Even the buttons on his jacket were made of gold.

Reflecting like shiny beacons in the mirror

as she watched him with his glass.

He sat at the bar, opposite the clock.

Tick-tock.  He swilled the liquid-

bitter down his throat.  Between them lay the limes.

He played with the limes

while he watched her reflecting his gold

in her eyes; beautiful and liquid.

She saw him looking at her in the mirror.

Their eyes met before she was distracted by the clock.

She toyed with her glass.
